We’re in the middle of the Halloween season and there are lots of things to see and do – and we’re not just talking about scary movies on TV or haunted houses just down the street. From now until October 31, the Phoenix Metro will host themed events and parties, including movie screenings, pumpkin carving parties, tours of haunted places in the city, and costumed gatherings. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the spirit of the season, we’ve put together a rundown of family-friendly and other events, each with their own variety of thrills, chilling, and fun. Pumpkin Festival at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess This family-friendly series of events at the Fairmont, 7575 East Princess Drive in Scottsdale, will be held every night through October 31st “Mystic Passage,” with animated skeletons singing and telling ghost stories. Nightly fireworks take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Opening times are Monday through Thursday from 5pm to 9pm; and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday to Sunday. The Rocky Horror Show at the Phoenix Theater Company The Phoenix Theater Company actors will time warp during their production of the stage version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Performances are Wednesday through Sunday at 8:00 p.m. (with matinees at 3:00 p.m. on weekend afternoons) at the PTC’s Hormel Theater, 1825 North Central Avenue. Virgos and longtime Rocky Horror fans are welcome (and if you can’t catch it during Halloween season, it runs until December 5th). Tickets cost $ 41 to $ 121. More information can be found here. Halloween Spook-Track-Ula at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park The miniature trains on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 East Indian Bend Road are decked out with a variety of lights, creepy characters, and Halloween-themed decorations until Dec. October. Visitors have unlimited travel on the park’s train and carousel during the 90-minute sessions, which start at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (Note: admission is limited to 550 people per session), photo pods and other activities will also be available . Benjamin Leatherman Phoenix Ghost Tours in Downtown Phoenix Want to get scared while listening to ghost stories about some of downtown Phoenix’s most historic landmarks? This popular tour begins at Hotel San Carlos, 202 North Central Avenue, and takes participants on a 60- to 90-minute journey with stops at eight different locations. The tours run every evening at 8 p.m. until Halloween. (Additional tours also run at 10:00 PM on October 30th and 31st.) Adult tickets are priced at $ 24.99 per person, excluding taxes and fees. Halloween Anime Festival at Collectors Marketplace Put on your anime-inspired costumes, charge up your Super Saiyan powers, and head to Collectors Marketplace, 1945 East Indian School Road, for this anime-focused geek event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday October 23rd There will be a cosplay competition for prizes, an artist alley, special sales, live entertainment and more. Halloween Monster Bash at the Peoria Sports Complex You and your brood are welcome to attend this family-oriented event on Saturday, October 23rd from 5pm to 9pm at the Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 North 83rd Avenue, which features rides, games and live Events offers music, interactive experiences and freebies. There are attractions such as a climbing wall, a bungee trampoline, a reptile exhibition and trick-or-treating. Other highlights include a performance by the Ghostbusters, a photo box and an ongoing costume competition for prizes throughout the evening, in which different age groups up to 10 are rated every 15 minutes. There will also be a sensory room for children with special needs. Admission is free, but donations of canned or long-life food are welcome. Outdoor Halloween Party at Whyman Park A screening of the hit Pixar film Coco will be the highlight of this free outdoor event from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday, October 23rd at Whyman Park at 2350 South 103rd Avenue in Tolleson. A kids dance party, costume contest, game booths, vendors, food trucks, and other activities are also planned. The movie starts at 6:30 PM, and you can bring blankets, chairs, and other seating into the park. Community Pumpkin Carving Party at FOUND: RE Phoenix Hotel.If you fancy making a jack-o’-lantern (without having to worry about cleaning up afterwards), FOUND: RE Phoenix Hotel, 1100 North Central Avenue, will host you on Tuesday, May 26th October, from 7pm to 9pm, a carving event for all age groups. In addition, food and drink specials are offered and the best creations are awarded prizes. Participation is free. Family Halloween Party at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park People of all ages are invited to this outdoor event from 3pm to 5pm on Sunday, October 24th, at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 East Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale to participate. Activities such as trick-or-treating stations, pumpkin decorations, a costume contest, photo booth, and character meet-and-greet will be held, and swagbags will be given away. Lynn Trimble Silver String Circus: Inferno at Alwun House The performers of the Silver String Circus troupe are taking a page from Dante’s Divine Comedy for their latest show, which will be performed at Alwun House, 1204 East Roosevelt Street on Saturday, October 23rd . The adult-oriented production will be inspired by the macabre poem and will include “magic, music and death defying stunts” according to Silver Strings Facebook. It will also be restricted to those aged 21 and over. The performance runs from 7pm to 11.30pm and tickets are $ 13 upfront and $ 18 at the box office. Myths and Spells Festival at the Irish Cultural Center Wizards, dragons, fairies and other fantastically costumed characters are welcome to attend this afternoon event at the Irish Cultural Center, 1106 North Central Avenue, on Sunday October 24th, with Food Staple Vendors, a photo booth , Face painting, giveaways, and live entertainment, there’s a knight ceremony, tournament game, and a fire-breathing dragon performance. Tickets to the event, which runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., are $ 10 for children and include a magic wand and goodie bag. It’s free for adults and children under 10 years of age. Pumpkin Carving Party at Thunderbird Lounge Grab your pumpkins and spend an evening carving them on Monday October 25th at Thunderbird Lounge, 710 West Montecito Avenue. Pumpkin beer is tapped while It’s the Big Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is screened. Participation in the event from 21 years of age, which starts at 6:00 p.m., is free of charge. Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest at W Scottsdale Hotel: 30pm on Wednesday October 27th at W Scottsdale, 7277 East Camelback Road. The most creatively dressed doggos win prizes such as a free night in a hotel. Participants must show up between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to be eligible. The evaluation will take place at 7:00 p.m. Here you can register online. Jim Bob’s Burgers Pop-Up at Worth Takeaway For the past few winters, the folks at Worth Takeaway, 18 West Main Street in Mesa, have paid tribute to Bob’s Burgers by turning the place into the title hamburger joint from the popular Fox cartoon have with costumes and thematic menu items. On Friday October 29th and Saturday October 30th during the fourth edition of the event, they will do so again. They serve burgers with amusing names, including a few straight from the show like “Paranormal Pepper-Jacktivity” and “Texas Chainsaw Massa-Curd”. Beyond the grave at Pioneer & Military Memorial Park Marshall Shore (also known as Arizona’s Hip Historian), this event will be held on Saturday, October 30th, 3pm to 6pm at Pioneer & Military Memorial Park, 1317 West Jefferson Street the lives of the people buried there. Participants can take their own self-guided tour or hear stories from storytellers standing near the graves of several historical figures. Items such as flowers or pictures can also be left on several memorial altars that will be available. Tickets are $ 50 per person. Downtown Mesa Trick or Treat The various stores and businesses along Main Street in downtown Mesa will be offering trick or treating at individually wrapped candy dispensing stations on Saturday, October 30th, from 11am to 3pm.
