Fans of Peter Kay’s hilarious sitcom Phoenix Nights will recognize this local eatery, which has been rated as the best place to eat in the area. The Royal Balti House in Farnworth, just off the M61, is very popular with loyal customers in the area as it is the top-rated local restaurant on TripAdvisor. But its second claim to fame goes back a few years now, when the Curryhaus starred in an episode of Peter Kay’s legendary comedy series Phoenix Nights in his hometown of Bolton. Reviews on TripAdvisor consider it the best restaurant in Bolton, with a five-star rating based on 1,300+ reviews. Since only 2% of the visitors found it “bad” or “awful”, our colleague Thomas Molloy from MEN had to convince himself whether the local restaurant was really good as good as it sounds. This is how Thomas thought of the Indian restaurant. What was ordered and what it cost Taking advantage of the happy hour menu – served Monday through Thursday before 5:45 p.m. and Sunday before 5:00 p.m. – reporter Thomas grabbed a bargain of £ 9.45. Included in the menu, customers can order a poppadom with a chutney tray, starter, main course, side dish and dessert or coffee / tea. Also included in the price are free orange slices, a shot of Baileys or whiskey, a mint chocolate and hot disposable towels, which Thomas rated as “incredibly good value for money”. The Chicken Madras judgment from the Royal Balti House (Image: Manchester Evening News) Although Thomas himself was a regular visitor, he was “not disappointed” with the visit and first ordered the “Royal Special Meat”, a chicken and tikka spring roll and one Chicken samosa accompanied by a salad and a lemon wedge. Thomas said, “The chicken tikka roll was absolutely stunning and the samosa filling was beautifully flavored.” For the main course, Chicken Madras, which Thomas rated “the best Madras that I have personally tried – the flavors are beautiful, the consistency is perfect and it also gives you a real spice kick.” As a side dish, naan bread and an extra serving of pilau rice for an additional £ 2.65 with “no complaints about either”. Thomas concluded, “Aside from the excellent food, the service at the Royal Balti House really stands out. The manager Keith is very nice and the staff goes absolutely out of their way to make your stay wonderful – they deserve a tip.” Without asking any restaurant in Bolton, it’s impossible to tell if it deserves the TripAdvisor crown but it’s certainly one of my favorites and well worth a visit. ”Download the LancsLive app for free here on iPhone and here on Android LancsLive on Facebook and @LiveLancs on Twitter.
