Valley Bar Reopening August 18th After an 18 month shutdown, Valley Bar in downtown Phoenix is slated to host again on Wednesday August 18th, according to its website. The 275-seat underground bar, located on Central Avenue south of Monroe Street, will host a free show by funk musician, DJ, and singer Dâm-Funk at 9:00 p.m. The show marks the return of the performance to the Valley Bar, which was closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic. (The sister venue, the Crescent Ballroom, opened earlier this month.) Numerous concerts and music events are planned for the coming months, including performances by Miami Horror, Black Joe Lewis, Dear Boy, and Wild Pink. Charlie Levy, the venue’s co-owner, recently told The Arizona Republic that they will be operating at full capacity but will “monitor the situation.” [with COVID-19] Endgame Planning Labor Day Expansion Bash Mesa Playable and Geek Hangout Endgame will be hop and electronic dance music artists from Friday 3rd September to Sunday 5th. The event features performances that take place in multiple locations across the venue, as well as performances by local artists and vendors. (Endgame will also have various consoles available to play during the event.) The lineup includes sets of 5 Godz, Aggro, Baylienz, Distorter, Altruist, Bank Mills, Audacity, Infra Redd, Roscoe, Braydo, Goodtimemiller, Lil Indigo and more . Daily general admission is $ 30 to $ 40, and bottle service packages are $ 750. Click to enlarge The late Willis Day Jr. Dapper Gatsby GoFundMe for Willis Day Jr. calls thousands on friends of local artist, musician and performer Willis Day Jr., who died in mid-July at the age of 51, have started a GoFundMe to help his Pay funeral and memorial expenses. The crowdfunding campaign, which launched on July 15, raised $ 3,786 of its $ 5,500 goal. (Funding will also be provided to support future projects and ideas on Day’s behalf.) Sterling Beeaff withdraws from KBAQ The local classical radio station KBAQ is for the first time in 25 years without the services of Sterling Beeaff, as the longtime DJ and on-air announcer has retired. On August 6, the 64-year-old Valley resident, who worked the morning shift at the station, resigned after having been employed by KBAQ since 1995. FM (now broadcast as Live 101.5) and is also a poet and songwriter. Poppy Announces October Concert at Van Buren Grammy-nominated hard rock singer Poppy will tour this fall in support of her upcoming album Flux, due out in September. It will include a performance at The Van Buren in downtown Phoenix on Saturday, October 2nd. No support acts have been announced. Advance tickets for the 8 p.m. show are now on sale for $ 27 in advance and $ 30 at the box office.
