A restaurant with a huge garden terrace and international street food will open in Shepherd’s Bush next month. Opening July 1st, The Phoenix in Westfield White City transforms Jamie’s old Italian website into an unrecognizable place full of flowers and vines. The new concept is said to be the bigger brother of The Hawk’s Nest, known for showcasing emerging street food talent and tucked under a railroad arch at Shepherd’s Bush Market. Marketing manager Lottie Bedford said, “We want to make sure it looks nice. “Everything is draped in plants so that the whole terrace feels like an English garden. There are many flowers and the roof will be transparent and heated in winter. “We’re going to take some of that atmosphere inside too, so we’re going to drape some flowers and plants inside.” BRING THE OUTDOORS INDOOR: The Phoenix plans to bring a garden feel to their restaurant. After living in the falcon’s nest for a year and a half, they completely changed the outside area with photo-friendly foliage and fairy lights and attracted a new local customer base. You’ll join Dirty Vegan, Bleecker Burger & Pizza Pilgrims as one of the newest additions to Westfield’s ever-growing list of fast-casual restaurants. Bedford added, “We decided it was a really fun opportunity to have a space that is a little more focused on events. “The location is less residential and much larger. It gives us more scope for different things and we wanted to benefit from art, events and music, all the things we love and have always wanted to do. “It was really exciting for us to find a room where we could do that. “We just wanted to create something that we knew people would like, to make sure it was the best, but kept it simple.” The kitchen focuses on international street food with a proposed launch menu of sourdough pizza, Asian salad boxes and four very different types of burger. The bar is Mexican-style and has a dangerous range of margaritas and mezcalitas cocktails. Bedford said The Phoenix will be open Monday through Saturday until midnight with live music every Wednesday, plus DJ sets, comedy nights and large-scale quizzes during the week.
