Fire in a shopping mall damages three stores
PHOENIX – Several stores were destroyed after a first-stage fire broke out in a mall near Central and Southern Avenues early Saturday morning, Phoenix fire officials said.
Firefighters were called to the Vybz Bar and Grill Restaurant at 1:30 a.m. on September 25 after a fire broke out on the roof.
The flames had spread to several nearby stores, including a liquor store and a tattoo shop. All affected buildings suffered severe fire and smoke damage, officials said.
The crews were able to put the flames out, but Southern Avenue will be closed indefinitely between 3rd Street and Central Avenue.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Nobody was reported injured.
