PHOENIX – Although fewer people are expected to travel this holiday season, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday to have some of its busiest days. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a recommendation Thursday urging people not to travel for Thanksgiving as the coronavirus pandemic rises across the country. For those still planning to leave the city, travelers should arrive at least two hours before their departure time and bring face covering. Masks are required at all Sky Harbor facilities. Personal protective equipment is available from vending machines and in retail stores in case passengers forget to bring face covering. The airport says masks are also available near security checkpoints. To avoid busy pick-up and pick-up areas on the curb, the airport recommends using the free PHX Sky Train to reach all terminals. Each train car is limited to 15 people per vehicle due to coronavirus restrictions. Travelers are also advised to look out for motorway signs indicating accidents or alternative routes to avoid delays on the way to the airport. Sky Harbor offers prepaid parking discounts for all garages when travelers book a parking space in advance through the airport’s website. Waiting times for security checks and information on flight status can also be found online. Passengers can again access the Escape Lounge PHX, which reopened on November 20th. The lounge offers freshly prepared food and drinks as well as access to over 7,000 digital publications. Payment is required to participate. Entry to the lounge, which is open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Terminal 4, Hall B, is subject to a fee. The Centurion Lounge at the PHX is expected to reopen soon, but a specific date has not yet been set. According to its own statements, Sky Harbor has strengthened its hygiene measures in the past eight months and installed socially distant markings, Plexiglas barriers and hand disinfectant dispensers in the terminals.
