This also includes the loss of income due to the restaurant closing for the holidays. When Local First Arizona nonprofit found out about Higgins, they wanted him to know he had the resources and options. “We knew we couldn’t wait for something to happen,” said Thomas Barr, vice president of business for Local First AZ. “Our team helped him set up a GoFundMe page. We called a glass company to fix the glass and we called the utility company to see how soon we could turn the power on. ”Barr says if a small business is suffering financially for any reason, reach out to others Nearby small businesses and check out possible grants or loans that are offered by the county. As for Higgins, he’s not giving up this location or his restaurant despite three break-ins in eight months. “If I have to get burglar bars, or whatever it is, if I have to get night security in front of my apartment or the whole mall, that’s what we have to do,” Higgins said. “As I said , I’ll be living in here just so they don’t mess up my things. ”Despite three break-ins in eight months, he’s not giving up this location and restaurant.
