Phoenix Author TJ Newman’s Debut Novel, Falling, Is Already at the Top of the Book Charts

Changing Hands Bookstore It made international headlines when Phoenix author TJ Newman’s debut novel Falling was purchased under a seven-digit, two-volume publishing deal with Avid Reader Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Falling was published on July 6th and was already making waves in the publishing world in the first week. The novel is currently number 2 on the New York Times bestseller list for hardcover fiction and number 3 for combined print and e-book fiction. It’s also # 1 on Apple Books and # 2 on USA Today’s Best Selling Books list for its first week on shelves. Newman, a native of Mesa and former flight attendant, wrote falling during overland night flights. The thriller tells the story of a pilot who has to choose between the crash of his plane or the life of his family. She is currently on a promotional tour that started last week at Changing Hands Bookstore in Phoenix, where she used to work as a bookseller. Falling was named one of the Hottest Books of Summer by Good Morning America, The View, People Magazine, USA Today, Vanity Fair, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, Town & Country, Newsweek, Goodreads, Amazon’s Best Books of the Month, and Apple Books.
