Think about November, and Thanksgiving is probably your first thought. But don’t overdo it. This month in the valley is peppered with culinary events long before the food first holiday – and afterwards too. These include shrimp festivals, pizza festivals, a beer dinner in the mountains and a lot more which you can read about below. Welcome to November! Wine and Yoga – what could be better? LDV Weingut Un[Wine]d Wednesday, Wednesday, November 3, 10, 17, and 24 at LDV Winery Tasting Room 7134 East Stetson Drive, # B110, Scottsdale Practicing yoga and enjoying a glass of wine are two great ways to relax and unwind. Why not combine both via the LDV Winery Tasting Room and Chels of The Unraveled Road? Classes are offered every Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (the former is Relaxing Yin Yoda, while the latter is Gentle Hatha Yoga). Entrance fees for individual classes are $ 40 plus tax, a two-class package is $ 75, and a four-class package is $ 150. You will also receive a wine tasting (and yoga mats and pads are provided for the first 10 participants). RMC Communications Friday Jazz Nights Friday 5th, 12th and 19th November (closed November 26th for a private event) Wrigley Mansion 2501 East Telawa Trail Wrigley Mansion has a long history and music runs in its blood. Owner Jamie Hormel’s late husband, Geordie, was a musician and founder of the legendary Village Recording Studio. Now her daughter Geri appears as the singer of the jazz band every third Friday of the month. Other talented musicians lead the music series each week. Cocktails, wine and the bar menu will be served from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the event. A Taste of Two Legends Saturday, November 6thMorton’s The Steakhouse2501 East Camelback Road Enjoy a five-course meal at Morton’s The Steakhouse with wines from Jackson Family Wines of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The first course includes starters such as salmon tartare and duck foie gras mousse, followed by jumbo lump crab, lamb loin in a herb crust, beef bourguignon and cherry jubilee. Kelly Kalmbach Gila Bend Shrimp Festival Saturday, November 6thBaseball Field 777 North Logan Avenue, Gila Bend Arizona Desert Shrimp, Arizona’s only organic shrimp farm, is partnering with the city of Gila Bend to sponsor this annual shrimp festival. The festivities range from activities for the kids to live music, beer and wine for the adults to lots of shrimp to eat and buy to take away. The proceeds go to services and the Gila Bend community. The menu includes grilled watermelon salad; Bison Cowboy Chili with Corn Bread; spiced grill and chill shrimp cocktail; smoked brisket; and peach cobbler. Outside the restaurant, there is live music and family-friendly entertainment, plus a free meal for any active military or veteran all day. Proceeds will go to Tunnel to Towers Tempe, a non-profit organization founded in honor of firefighter Stephen Siller, who was killed on September 11, 2001. The organization will also complement OBH’s donations of up to $ 5,000. 60th Anniversary Finale Dinner Friday, November 12th Chart House 7255 East McCormick Parkway, Scottsdale The Chart House is celebrating its 60th birthday with a four-course dinner in partnership with Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. Start with an orange-scented salad, followed by lobster and shrimp tartar sauce; braised short rib; and pepper fillet medallions, all with wine accompaniment. Jacob Tyler Dunn Phoenix Pizza Festival Saturday and Sunday November 13th and 14th Margaret T. Hance Park 67 West Culver Street The sixth annual Phoenix Pizza Festival takes over Margaret T. Hance Park on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The event usually sells out so get your $ 12 tickets online now. Festival goers can purchase pizza from around 20 of the best local pizza makers for anywhere from $ 2 to $ 4 apiece. There’s also beer and wine to buy (bring cash), live music, lawn games, and a kids’ area with pizza crafts. Click to enlarge Try different types of sliders at the annual Slider Throwdown. Knife and Fork Media Slider Throwdown Sunday, November 14th High Street Entertainment District 5415 East High Street This annual burger battle is taking over the High Street to benefit the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation from 12pm to 3pm. Local food trucks and vendors will be their best sliders for You to try. There will also be live entertainment, skateboarding, a drone experience, face-painting, and more. Tickets are $ 40 and include samples of all sliders, plus coupons for a soft drink, lemonade, and frozen yogurt.
