PHOENIX – On Thanksgiving weekend from Wednesday afternoon to Monday morning, there are no planned motorway closures in the valley. The Arizona Department of Transportation encourages drivers to expect the unexpected and focus on driving safely to ensure you get to the table safely for the traditional feast. This includes getting enough rest, complying with speed limits and never driving with disabilities. ADOT said a total of 12 people were killed in accidents on Arizona roads, including both freeways and local roads, on Thanksgiving weekend last year. ADOT recommends that individuals also inspect their vehicle before driving, including tire pressures, engine belts and hoses, fluid levels, and the condition of windshield wipers. While no closings are planned, drivers are encouraged to plan for unscheduled restrictions due to accidents, disabled vehicles, or other incidents.
