The officers responded to a call to shoot in the area at 3:30 a.m. on July 18. When they arrived, they found a woman with a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Destiny McClain, later died in hospital. An investigation found McClain was ordering food from a food truck when she was hit by gunfire, police say. The victim’s mother, Brenda Gilliam Miller, is devastated when she lost her daughter. “This is the only time she really left the house and didn’t make it home. Destiny wasn’t the street guy. Destiny was usually home. This was her attempt to be someone’s friend and all.” she cost her life, “said Miller. Miller says the loss of her daughter is unreal.” To us it’s unreal.
