PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – As movie theaters struggle to fill auditoriums, Harkins found a creative way to make money. The local theater chain is taking their popcorn to the streets, and Harkins is introducing its new Harkins Popcorn Truck, which can be used to deliver cinema popcorn for your private party or event. In addition to the freshly popped popcorn, guests can also enjoy theater-style snacks such as nachos, hot dogs, soft pretzels, and cotton candy. This isn’t the first strategy Harkins has come up with to stay afloat during the pandemic. Last year, the chain offered roadside popcorn sales in certain locations. The drivers could pull up in front of the theater and buy a “party bag” for $ 10. A Harkins employee wearing a mask took the bags straight to the car. And with everyone paying attention to social distancing, Harkins also began hosting private movie parties. You can rent an entire auditorium for yourself and up to 20 guests for $ 99 to $ 149, depending on the film. The Harkins Popcorn Truck is currently available for private catering such as birthdays, weddings, fundraisers and corporate parties. And soon, the truck will be “showing up” at events in Phoenix and across the state year-round. Please visit Harkins.com for more information. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft).
