Phoenix police say they found the man a few hours later. PHOENIX – Taylor Patrick clearly remembers the terrible moment that happened on Sunday. She and her fiancé Anthony Lazzaroni had just left a smokehouse near 28th Drive and Cactus Road in Phoenix when Anthony dropped his cell phone under the car seat. She stopped so they could pick up the phone. Then everything changed. “This guy came in and put the gun over the seat right here,” said Taylor. “Straight to Anthony’s head. ‘Get on top of that [expletive] Ground. I’ll take all of your things. ‘”She saw that he was drinking and knew he couldn’t drive her car because it has a breathalyzer from a previous DUI. “I know it sounds clichéd, but literally my life flashed my eyes before that. That’s it. ”In that split second she thought she had to help him in order to help herself, so she offered him a lift. “I don’t know what’s going on in my head,” she recalled. “It was just fight or flight mode. I have to get out of this situation.” They drove off with Taylor at the wheel and Anthony in the back seat. “I wanted him in front of me,” said Anthony. “Just in case I had to do something. “He … said he couldn’t even try calling for help on his phone because the suspect was pointing his gun at him.” He had it with me the whole time, “Anthony said. They drove in circles around nearby neighborhoods for about 10 to 15 minutes before the couple said the man finally got off near Wood Drive, “He said someone is going to die today and you’re just lucky you’re cool enough are where it wasn’t you, ”said Taylor. They immediately called the police out of fear for whoever he met next. Taylor told police she felt mental health issues were at play. “He said he was going to shoot someone else. He wanted to take someone else’s car so that retribution would come and people would die. ”Phoenix police found the man a few hours later. They said he broke a protection order in a house on Wood Drive. An officer shot him after police said the suspect aimed his gun at them. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he has been since Tuesday afternoon. The chain of events is still difficult for Taylor and Anthony to process. “I don’t know what I was feeling. “said Taylor.” My fiance, the love of my life, will be dead. I will be dead. It was so quick. The blink of an eye. You would never expect something like this to happen. ”The police have not yet released the suspect’s name. They said that after he recovered, he would face multiple charges.
