The local gluten-free restaurant chain has partnered with the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) to run tasty fundraising drives. For every GF Chocolate Chip Cookie sold at Picazzo’s five locations (plus one in Sedona), Picazzo’s donates $ 1 to support SARRC programs that benefit Arizona people with autism. “At Picazzo we have a lot of regulars who have family members with autism, so we looked for a partnership that would allow our entire team to be involved on multiple levels,” said Chris Disney, Operations Manager and Partner at Picazzo. “When we contacted SARRC earlier this year, we identified several ways we could work together and give back.” The “Chip in for Autism” cookie campaign will later become volunteer activities, events and an employment program for youth and adults with autism include. Northern Italy: The modern Italian restaurant will open a new location near the SanTan Village in Gilbert on September 22nd. It is the 28th U.S. location for the restaurant first conceived by Valley super restaurateur Sam Fox. Blumenkind: Another original Fox restaurant concept is celebrating its 28th location – also in Gilbert! The fresh and healthy eatery opens on E. Williams Field Road in 1950. on September 28 with an exclusive preview of the chain’s autumn menu. True Food Kitchen: Not to beat, another former Fox baby has entered into a new partnership with the Tractor Beverage Company. True Food now offers lemonade and lemonade from the health-conscious beverage manufacturer. Sweet Fantasy: Are You Preparing For Your Fantasy Football Draft? Or do you wish you could toss overboard who it is in your home? Sheraton Phoenix Downtown has it all. During Arizona Restaurant Week in Fall 2021 – September 17-26 – ARA will partner with the HonorHealth Desert Mission Food Bank and other programs that serve the Valley’s residents affected by homelessness. Desert Mission’s scope includes a chalkboard, an early childhood learning center, and a daytime adult program. “Our partnership with the HonorHealth Foundation is in line with our longstanding mission to advocate and support the people here in our community,” said Steve Chucri, CEO of ARA. “It is important that we now focus on the people who need them most. Autumn fun: Our leaves may not change much here in the valley in autumn, but we were still thrilled by a flood of autumn competitions and events from Four Peaks Brewing Co. The state’s largest brewery has teamed up with outdoor apparel suppliers Wild Tribute and Tempes Boho Camper Vans to award experience prizes for their “Durst for Adventure” campaign. All in the name of responsible outdoor fun, Four Peaks will raise funds through events, products, and merchandise for the Western National Parks Association, Grand Canyon Conservancy, and the Zion National Park Forever Project. “After a year lost in the pandemic, more people than ever are looking for adventure,” says Jim Scussel, co-founder of Four Peaks. “We love that people flock to the national parks, but we also want to emphasize the importance of protecting and respecting our parks. Agriculture Philosophy: This week, Phoenix-based Sprouts Farmers Market announced its commitment to improving the welfare of broilers raised for consumption and sold in its 360+ stores. After two years of discussions with animal welfare organizations, including leading advocacy group Compassion in World Farming, Sprouts released an updated Animal Welfare Commitment. It includes a tiered schedule that covers sourcing standards for the chicken in its fresh crates, one-pan meals, full-service crates, and delis. “The movement to improve broiler welfare is now getting real momentum,” said Ben Williamson, US executive director of Compassion in World Farming. “Sprouts has worked with our technical experts for at least two years to ensure that their commitment improves broiler welfare in a ‘meaningful and measurable way’. This approach is indicative of a company that wants to keep its promises. ”In practice, this step-by-step approach includes reducing the stocking density by 2025, introducing more humane slaughtering methods (stunning in a controlled atmosphere) by 2026, and introducing better animal welfare breeds.
