Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix has asked a Florida park to retire two bears who inspired show-business Disney’s 2003 film “Brother Bear”. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Phoenix, who voiced the main character of Kenai, penned a letter to Beradise Ranch in Myakka City, Florida asking the facility to move Bruno and Bambi to an accredited sanctuary. “I just learned that two of the bears used on your walking show, Bambi and Bruno, were the models for Disney’s Brother Bear,” Phoenix wrote in the letter the Hollywood Reporter received. “Their keen sense of smell and plate-sized paws have evolved to allow them to search long distances for mate and food, but those carefully honed traits are wasted at the Circular Fair, where they have to be caged when they’re not tires pull over their heads and carry basketballs around in front of a crowd of strangers, ”the actor wrote. The website says the bears are available to work in movies, TV shows, and commercials, as well as for weddings and “bearthday parties”. Beradise Ranch did not immediately respond to Changing America’s request to comment on Phoenix’s request.
