PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Check out all Phoenix travelers this weekend, especially if you’re heading to Sky Harbor Airport. I-10 going west near the airport will be closed from Friday evening to Monday morning. As part of the Arizona Department of Transportation’s new improvement projects, I-10 will be westbound near US 60 and 40th Street near Sky Harbor Airport from 10pm Friday through 5am Monday. ADOT also advises that the US 60 ramps going west to I-10 going west will also be closed. Travelers wishing to get to Sky Harbor must take Loop 101 north to Loop 202 west (Red Mountain Freeway) to get to the airport. HEADS UP AIRPORT TRAFFIC! The SR 143 to the north and other @ PHXSkyHarbor entrances are not accessible from the I-10 to the west this weekend. Plan ahead for additional travel time. The ramps of SR 51 to the north to Loop 101 to the east are also closed. Travelers in the northeast valley must take Bell Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard east. For those coming from the Maricopa area, State Route 347 between Casa Blanca Road and Cobblestone Farms Drive will be narrowed to one lane in both directions from Friday through Monday for sidewalk maintenance. ADOT officials advise that drivers should allow for additional travel time and be prepared to slow down. Further information can be found on the weekend travel advice card.
