It’s the happiest time of the year! Here is our list of vacation events across Arizona to get you and your family in the vacation mood. PHOENIX – Now that the Thanksgiving meal coma is over, it is obviously time to start making plans for the December holiday season. There can be no snow in the valley at this time of year, but the events are sure to bring out the spirit of the winter wonderland. Here we have compiled a list of events! Phoenix See the glittering lights of the holidays and the animals that call the Phoenix Zoo home! If you don’t want to walk through the exhibitions in comfort due to COVID-19, a drive-through option is also available! The Desert Botanical Gardens Las Noches de las Luminarias December 3 to December 31 (dates vary based on the garden’s membership status). Live music, entertainment and thousands of luminaries will give the desert a special glow at the 44th annual Luminarias Festival. Friday, December 3, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A free, family-friendly event with activities from the Chabad Jewish Center of North Phoenix. Chihuly in the Desert shows Dale Chihuly’s breathtaking, large-format installations, embedded in the garden’s first-class collection of desert plants. A newly formed ice rink is being built in Patriot’s Park. CitySkate’s opening times are from November 26th to December 16th from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm and from December 17th to January 5th from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The opening times can be on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s. Between December 10th and 24th at Symphony Hall. Celebrate the holiday season with a Christmas classic, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. The Phoenix Symphony will perform the score live. Holidays at the Heard is a Phoenix tradition and a must for your family. A special program is scheduled for the weekends starting the Friday after Thanksgiving and will run through Friday, December 31st, Scottsdale, Saturday, December 11th, at 10 a.m. Neiman Marcus hosts a breakfast with Santa Claus with photo motifs and Christmas carols. Photo Op with Santa and His Elves Santa and his elves will be at the Palm Court in Fashion Square until Christmas Eve to take photos with children and take gift requests! A Sensory Santa Event will take place on December 5th between 9:30 am and 10:30 am in collaboration with Autism Speaks. The Santa Paws Pet Photo Event will take place on December 6th, 13th and 20th between 4pm and 8pm. Reserve seats on the website above. In addition, the Salvation Army will be running the Angel Tree program through December 22nd. Chandler Chandler Fire Department Toy Drive All donations will be donated to the Chandler children in need this Christmas season. Donations are accepted at the south-facing entrance near the Food Court in the Chandler Fashion Center. Tumbleweed Tree Lights and Parade of Lights The iconic Chandler tumbleweed tree will be lit and families will have a chance to meet Santa Claus. Live music performances are also planned. Annual Spirit of Christmas Show from December 11th to 12th and December 18th to 19th The Spirit of Christmas is an energetic variety show with a cast of more than 100 dancers, singers, a horse and a carriage, special guest actors and a Master Hoop Dancers. Mesa Winter Wonderland Ice Rink attendees can register online and pay in advance for a specific 60 minute session. A limited number of walk-up registrations are also considered per session. The event is free to the public at the Mesa Christmas tree between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. A 12-foot menorah is illuminated for the Christmas season and into the New Year. Tempe World Illumination of Tempe The huge animation light show will be a drive-through event in Tempe. Adult Events 4th Annual 12 Bars of Christmas Crawl Saturday, December 11th 11am to 8pm Put on your best Christmas sweater and purchase your tickets to enjoy festive libations at nine participating bars in Scottsdale. If it’s your birthday in December, you can also send the organizers a photo of your ID to get a free pass for you and five friends. Sippin ‘Santas Bar Crawl Saturday, Dec 11th 11am to 6pm Participants can choose between the’ Nice List ‘package and the’ Naughty List ‘package to jump through the bar at 24 participating locations in Chandler.
