PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A family wants answers after Phoenix police said a driver hit and killed their sister on Saturday in broad daylight. Detectives said the driver ran away and left Jeannie Montoya to die on the street. “She was such a loving person,” said Jeannie’s sister Virginia Aranda. “Everywhere she went she came in with a smile. Everyone just remembers her smile and how much she joked and she was everything to us. ”She said Jeannie was a mother and a grandmother. “I just want people to know that she was very nice and open-minded,” said Jeannie’s sister Stephanie Montoya. “She was always ready to be there for everyone. She loved her children and her family.” The police are still looking for the driver. On Saturday afternoon, Phoenix police said a panel truck hit and killed Jeannie near 59th Avenue and Palm Lane. Investigators said the driver drove away, but they found the truck nearby. They are still investigating how Jeannie was hit. While officers work to find the driver, Jeannie’s family awaits justice. “He took everything from us,” said Virginia. “He just has to surrender and he just has to be caught. My sister must be at peace. ”“ I just don’t understand how he can do such a thing and go without remorse and not stay, ”said Stephanie. The sisters said Jeannie gave a lot in her 42 years, but today her family needs the prayers and community support. “We just want to send her home and have peace,” Virginia said. “Give peace to their children.
