No judgment here: we are fans of the latter too. Here is a breakdown of the November and December markets: 12th Annual Festival of the Arts When: Saturday, November 20, 11:00 am – 6:00 pm Where: Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe St., Phoenix 85004 Presented von der Herberger Theaterzentrum celebrates the annual festival of the arts for its 12th year in a row with performances, dance and live music. There are also activities for the little ones to join in, with beer and wine tastings for alcohol fans. Sellers will also be there for anyone interested in buying works of art and additional items. This festival of the arts is also a great way to showcase certain programs that attendees may want to join as well. Entry is free and this festival is an all-round great place for all ages. Black Market When: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 20 Where: 1101 N. Central Ave., Phoenix 85004 Much like the Melrose Vintage Market, the Black Market is also a market but has specifically black vendors which is great Ability to support black owned businesses. The black market will also present and show “fabulous” drag performances. There will also be a vigil for Transgender Memorial Day towards the end of the event. This free event lasts four hours from 2pm to 6pm and is hosted by the Southwest Center for HIV / AIDS. Melrose Vintage Market When: Sunday November 21 and Sunday December 19, 9:00 am-3:00pm Where: 700 W. Campbell Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85013 The Melrose Vintage Market is a monthly neighborhood market that operates on Sundays the third weekend of the month. The market has over 50 vendors showcasing and selling handcrafted items, vintage collections, and even local food. The event is free as it is even dog friendly. Masks are also not required but are recommended. The Melrose Vintage Market is a great and relaxed place to walk around and get involved with the Phoenix community. Holiday Pop-up Markets When: Every Saturday between November 27 and December 18, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Where: Bragg’s Pie Factory, 1301 NW Grand Ave. # 8, Phoenix 85007 Every week Bragg’s Pie Factory publishes a list of local vendors, from vintage goods to handcrafted items. Buy Black Marketplace When: Friday, November 26th and Saturday, December 18th, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Where: 918 N. 2nd St., Phoenix 85004 Archwood Exchange has been offering the Buy Black Marketplace since 2016 to sell local Black – own company. Makers Market When: Saturday, December 4, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, December 5, 11 a.m. – 5 a.m. Where: Nurture House, 906 W. Roosevelt St., Phoenix 85007 The Makers Market is a two day event that will involve over 25 creators. There will also be a gift wrap station for anyone who needs to wrap their resumed gifts. DJs and musicians will also be present at the event, in addition to several different grocery vendors each day. Coffee drinks will be available from Hakiri Coffee for those looking to get in the holiday mood. Entry is free and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join this wonderful market. Phoenix Festival of the Arts When: Saturday December 11th and Sunday December 12th Where: Margaret T. Hance Park at 1202 N. 3rd St., Phoenix 85004 The Phoenix Festival of the Arts is a highly anticipated event within the Phoenix -Art community. This arts festival will have a different setting and will mainly take place in Margaret T. Hance Park, which has a lot of greenery. In addition to jewelry, ceramics, and more, local art is available for purchase. Performances / moderators also contribute to the relaxed atmosphere. In addition, food trucks will be prevalent throughout the park, containing different types of foods such as burgers, tacos, ice cream, and more. Admission to this event is of course free of charge and everyone who is interested is very welcome. Phoestivus When: Wednesday, December 15 and Thursday, December 16, 5pm – 10pm Where: 721 N. Central Ave., Phoenix 85004 Phoestivus, celebrating its 12th anniversary, is a fundraiser for the Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market and aims to celebrate the Phoenix community. This yeti event offers the chance to shop with local artisans, taste Phoestivus ale, and even celebrate certain traditions. A free t-shirt is also offered to those who volunteer and support the community. Local vendors will also be present and sell perfect gift ideas for the Christmas season. Participation is free for everyone who wants to take part in this tradition that has been around for decades. Slacker Holiday Gift Market When: Saturday, December 18 and Sunday, December 19, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Where: MonOrchid Park, 214 E. Roosevelt St., Phoenix 85004 The Slacker Holiday Gift Market is the perfect place for all the last minute Christmas shopping that needs to be done while having a good time. This gift market features over 150 local manufacturers and vintage sellers, creating a convenient “mini market” for those who need the perfect gift as quickly as possible. Additionally, local beer, music, and selfies with the one-of-a-kind Santa Claus are some additional activities to enjoy after your last shopping. Even better, Santa will be available for photos between noon and 2pm each day. Slacker welcomes everyone for $ 5 entry.
