The culture that lives in the city of Phoenix cannot be compared to any other, and it’s no wonder it has become the fifth largest city in the United States, as the recent surge in the Phoenix housing market has brought an influx of transplants to the city Has. One of the best ways to learn about the culture of the Phoenix community is through the arts. The First Fridays Art Walk organized by Artlink Phoenix will take place again on August 6, 2021. Artlink is a 33-year-old non-profit organization founded by local Arizona artists to support the Phoenix arts scene through a variety of events held throughout the year. When the global COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the organization had to adhere to rules and regulations to keep its artists and community safe by suspending its monthly art walks. Though their community took a hit, that didn’t stop them from finding ways to work with their stakeholders to ensure a decent comeback in the following year. On the first Friday of every month, Artlink hosts one of the largest self-guided art walks in the country for the community. Multiple shuttles provide access to over 70 galleries and venues that cover a range of art from music, painting, sculpture, fashion, and more. Not only that, multiple vendors offer excellent local food and drink for you to enjoy while you explore the various exhibits. According to Visit Phoenix’s official website, the nonprofit has technically not yet resumed its monthly art walks due to the pandemic. However, there are numerous art events happening across downtown Phoenix to continue the First Friday tradition. First Friday Events The Phoenix Art Museum is open from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the first Friday and admission is based on voluntary donations. Local book printing company Hazel & Violet on Grand Avenue will be printing free posters to provide their visitors with a hands-on experience in their store. The Heard Museum grants free entry to its museum. You can stop by The Café and Cantina for food, drinks and snacks, and there is also a bar for the adults. Throughout the valley, you’ll hear music from every street corner with a dozen different locations to catch live entertainment especially for First Fridays. From jazz music at The Nash to reggae music at The Van Buren, there is something for everyone in town. Don’t miss Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix, between 7th Avenue and 16th Street, where the main events take place. Bars, restaurants, boutiques and dozens of local artists will join the celebrations for locals and visitors to the area each month. The next First Friday Art Walk will take place on August 6, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the entire Phoenix area.
