^ I Support Local Community Journalism Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of the New Times clear. Have you recovered from the three nights of free-for-all on the holiday weekend with live music, festivals and club gigs? If so, and you still have disposable income, spare change, and mojo, then this weekend has its own strong line-up of concerts and tantrums. Electronic dance legends Deadmau5 and Tiësto will headline mini-festivals at the Rawhide Event Center in Chandler on consecutive nights. The Van Buren is resuming its concerts after a break of more than a year (because of you-know-what) with a lively show by the Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra. And American Idol contestant Alejandro Aranda, better known as Scarypool Party, is coming to the Marquee Theater in Tempe. Details on these and other music events can be found below. DJ / producer Nic Fanciulli. Yuval Hen Nic Fanciulli Friday June 4th Shadow Park, 26 East University Drive, Tempe, 480-474-4222 It would be a mistake to underestimate Nic Fanciulli or his reputation as a DJ: his career spans more than a decade, and so does he has an incomparable eloquence when he mixes and often mixes pounding high-stakes techno with euphoric tech house. He has spent several years traveling the world – with the frequent flyer miles accumulated accordingly – and playing at countless festivals and clubs alike. Newbies to dance music sometimes assume that if DJs step behind the decks, they will unleash a sustained 135 BPM attack for hours. Fanciulli has acquired a patient-oriented perspective through his time touring and mixing in front of an international audience. He is astute and methodical when it comes to selecting titles and does his best not to go too slow or too fast, but to keep the pace right for a longer period of time. See Fanciulli in action at Shady Park in Tempe on Friday. Doors open at 9:00 PM and cost $ 28.50 to enter. Grant Albert EXPAND singer and musician Scarypool Party. Nicole Busch Scarypool Party Friday June 4th Marquee Theater, 730 North Mill Avenue, Tempe, 480-829-0707 Former American Idol contestant Alejandro Aranda, better known as singer / musician Scarypool Party, released the fantastic genre-bending project Exit Form in 2019, that the listeners rethink what pop music can be. He breaks the mold like so many artists have done in recent years. In addition to his ability to sing his ass off, Scarypoolparty is also an excellent pianist and can let off steam on the guitar too. It is proof that artists are no longer afraid of not belonging to the popular lexicon of modern music. As with everything else in our society, the framework of the past breaks open and reveals the beauty that thrives behind these walls. It wasn’t American Idol that got Scarypool Party to where it is today – despite appearing on the longtime reality TV show. On Friday he will be taking his acoustic tour to the Marquee Theater in Tempe. Singers Noah Martin and Chad Rubin will open the show at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $ 25 to $ 45. Benjamin Leatherman EXPAND DJ Tristan Iseult Daniel Garfield HÄXAN: Black Magic / Mask Saturday, June 5, The Rebel Lounge, 2303 East Indian School Road, 602-296-7013 At every dance party by DJ Tristan Iseult, a few things are taken for granted: moody vibes, to start with , as well as dark and loud tracks of the industrial and techno variants that roar over the sound system, and black-clad Gothic patrons populate the dance floor. This is how it will be on Saturday, June 5th, at HÄXAN: Black Magic / Mask in the Rebel Lounge, when Tristan Iseult weaves his black magic onto the mixer and DJs Mijito spins dark electronics, post-industrial, witch’s house and nihilistic techno and Tavoo. Tiësto Saturday, June 5th Rawhide Event Center, 5700 West North Loop Road, Chandler, 480-502-5600 Tiësto knows what it’s like to command a crowd. But that wasn’t a big deal, as the trance master routinely plays in front of European crowds of over 20,000 to 30,000 people. Tiësto became three in the early 2000s by DJ Mag Named the world’s best trance for years in a row, remixing artists from Moby to Elvis, hosting radio shows on SiriusXM, and earning a few Grammy nominations over the years.
