COLD CASE: Still no arrest 7 years after teen’s body found in Phoenix alley | Original Reporting

TEMPE, AZ (3TV / CBS 5) – A Tempe teen who loved animals and dreamed of becoming a K-9 police officer broke those dreams when she was murdered nearly 7 years ago. The case was never resolved. Brianna Wells, only 17 years old, was found dead on December 29, 2014. Her body was discovered around 9:30 a.m. in an alley near Mobile Lane and 18th Square in Phoenix. Police say Briana was shot multiple times in murder. “I remember waking up that morning and going on Facebook and that’s how I found out because nobody told us about it. I remember watching it and thinking it was a joke or that someone played a prank in school. ” over in the alley and saw Brianna’s body there, “said Phoenix officer Michael Coddington, who was a homicide investigator at the time Brianna was murdered.” I remember seeing a 17-year-old man walk in the alley was. But her greatest passion was animals, especially horses and family dogs. The teenager volunteered at an animal shelter and one day wanted to be a K-9 officer Brianna loved animals and volunteered at an animal shelter. (Source: Phoenix PD) Brianna was also part of a supportive Quaker community for the Tempe Monthly Meeting and wa r camper for three years at Mountain Friends Camp, where her leadership skills began, brutally murdered a young girl who appeared to have such a bright future. “It’s sad,” said Officer Coddington. “It’s an alley. There’s garbage there. I’m disgusted that someone would do that.” (Source: Silent Witness) The police questioned neighbors, looked for clues and followed up countless leads, but the killer was never found. Coddington says he still thinks about Brianna and her family. “You will never get Brianna back. But you hope that you can at least give them a degree, knowing who was responsible for their death.” Unfortunately, the family has not been able to achieve this degree. The case remains unsolved and will be posted on the silent witness website with a reward being offered. The documentary about Brianna Wells is slated for release in 2022.
