In an interview with WWE’s The Bump to promote their very first EP Stone Rose & Bone, which will be released this Friday, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix described the process behind this album and how music has always played an important role in her life .
“Before I worked for WWE, I funded my indie habit as a pianist,” revealed Phoenix. “I played weddings and funerals, so I was sort of in the wedding singers business. I’ve been playing the piano since I was 5 years old. I have conducted choirs; I was part of choirs.
“During the pandemic, I was working virtually, you know, I went through a lot of emotions – sadness and fear – and music has always been a great therapy for me in my life. So this album kind of came out of processing things and bringing something good into the world when we got a lot of negativity. “
After Phoenix showed exclusive footage from their debut music video Find Your Why (see below), Phoenix mentioned that the multi-faceted Jeremy Borash was the brain behind the entire video production, and she believes it wouldn’t have been a hit without his expertise.
“What a great experience. I’ve done a lot of live performances in music, but I never got around to recording things. The WWE music group and Jeremy Borash who shot the video put so much time and effort into it [into it]. I asked him because he’s so talented and he did it for me so I’m grateful for his talent, ”said Phoenix.
Thanks to her mother and former piano teacher, Phoenix was able to bring in her love of music in ways she never thought possible. The voice behind NXT 2.0 is excited to hear audience reactions once their EP releases later this week.
“When I was 5 years old, I started taking lessons from my piano teacher Diana Hall,” repeated Phoenix. “She was someone who inspired me and I am very grateful for that. I have to tell you it was the greatest gift I have ever received. My mother worked really hard to scrape together the money to give me piano lessons and it was the greatest gift she could ever give me. “
Stone Rose & Bone will be available to listen to and buy on all music platforms this Friday.
