Thanks to the hard work of members of the Phoenix LGBTQ + community and their allies, queer culture is thriving in the Phoenix area. This is the vibrant Melrose neighborhood, known for its gay-friendly shops and restaurants, multiple Pride events throughout the year, and an active Greater Phoenix Lesbian Chamber supporting a variety of gay and lesbian businesses. While there is still more work to be done to build a community and culture of equality, the progress made is cause for celebration. So grab a drink at one of these popular gay and lesbian bars; MelroseCharlie’s has been a go-to for award-winning drag shows, gogos, cheap drinks and more since the mid-1980s, making it a staple in the Melrose district. It’s also one of the valley’s largest gay bars, with plenty of space to dance inside and relax outside on the terrace. There are also two more bars outside so you don’t have to waste your whole night waiting for your next drink. Courtesy of Visit Phoenix, MelroseStacy’s is a friendly neighborhood hangout with an old cathedral feel that is charming and casual at the same time. It’s also the perfect place to celebrate the Valley’s queer culture as the venue continuously showcases the work of local artists, regularly hosts drag shows, and regularly hosts other special events like Carnival Bar BS West has provided the community with a vibrant option since 1988 in the heart of old town Scottsdale. It’s alive, it’s loud, and it’s great fun – whether you’re stopping by for a toga party or drag bingo. Bliss ReBARRoosevelt RowThis gay-owned urban hotspot is the perfect spot for a late-night vodka cocktail (like the Bye Felicia!) Best of all, the bar consistently gives back to the LGBTQ + community through financial donations as well as by providing space for community and charity events.Happy Hour isn’t what Cruisn’7th us for their $ 3.50 spawned drinks every Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. all the more grateful.
