Veggie Village, a haven for meat substitutes, also made its debut in Phoenix. But we’ve also lost a mainstay: after two decades in business, the Burger Factory closed its doors. The drinks menu includes 10 craft beers on tap, 11 cocktail specialties and 27 wines. Highlights on the menu include linguine mussels, truffle fries and Bolognese ragout. De Babel14884 North Pima Road, ScottsdaleDe Babel brings Middle Eastern cuisine to Scottsdale. Expect dishes like chicken kebab, hummus, lamb kofta, and more. Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill 8300 North Hayden Road, Suite D-101, Scottsdale Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill is opening its 21st location, serving dishes such as Tamale with Carnitas, Santa Fe Enchiladas, Chicken Fried Steak and Diablo Pasta . For breakfast, try kahlua and agave french toast. El Taco Santo4025 East Chandler Boulevard, # 5 El Taco Santo, which is opening its second location in the Valley, offers guests Sonoran-style tacos and quesadillas. Harbor Seafood Cajun House 2711 South Alma School Road, # 14 Mesa Harbor Seafood Cajun House offers seafood cooking tailored to individual seasoning levels. The restaurant is open seven days a week and offers free snow crab legs if you have enough money. L&L Fresh Hibachi Sushi 1495 North Higley Road, # 103, Gilbert The newest Japanese restaurant in Gilbert, L&L Fresh Hibachi Sushi, presents classic sushi rolls like Tuna Avocado, Boston Rolls and California Rolls. It takes over the room that used to be the Poki Point Poke Restaurant. Cafe Rio Mexican Grill1939 East Baseline Road, GilbertUtah-based fast-casual Mexican restaurant Cafe Rio has opened its fourth location in Gilbert. Don’t miss the soft tortillas and other favorites like bowls, enchiladas, and tacos. Oscar’s Taco Shop 21811 North Scottsdale Road, # 105, Scottsdale The fifth location of Oscar’s Taco Shop has opened in Scottsdale. The fast-casual restaurant serves breakfast burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and nachos. The Scottsdale location is currently accepting online orders. Maskadores Taco Shop 4855 Warner Road, Ahwatukee The 18th location of Maskadores Taco Shop, a Luchador-themed restaurant, has opened in Ahwatukee. Veggie Village Veggie Village1255 East Northern Ave The Veggie Village combines vegan and vegetarian dishes and is an Asian restaurant with soy chicken, tofu, noodles and other meat substitutes. Salads, stir-fries, and fried rice are also available. All menu items can be prepared vegan. 36 Below3620 East Indian School Road A new whisper bar makes its debut in Phoenix. 36 Below offers wine, spirits and soft drinks. Reservations can be made for up to 15 people for private events in a room called “The Rose Garden”. Frenchie Pizza 3765 South Gilbert Road, Gilbert European flatbreads, known as tarte flambée, are the main attraction at Frenchie Pizza in Gilbert. The Chinese restaurant offers an extensive menu with pork, beef, chicken, tofu and rice dishes. StarZ American Bar & Grill2662 East University Drive, Mesa A family-friendly neighborhood eatery called StarZ American Bar & Grill has opened in Mesa. The menu includes pizza, wings, mac and cheese, as well as tacos. Vero Chicago Pizza 1334 East Chandler Boulevard, Gilbert Vero Chicago Pizza ‘s first franchise location now welcomes guests to Gilbert. Deep-dish pies are of course also available, as are wings and pasta. Via Della Slice Shop222 North 5th AvenueThe family-run Via Della Slice Shop opened its doors in Phoenix. Grab New York style pizza as well as wings. REMARKABLE CLOSURES Burger Factory is closing its doors after two decades in the Valley. Evie Carpenter Burger Factory702 W. OsbornThe Burger Factory will be closed after 22 years. The down-to-earth eatery serves sandwiches, burgers, gyros and Mexican food. In its place is the 7 Leaves Cafe, a tea house chain from Southern California.
