Phoenix Airpot Museum New Skate Deck Exhibition A new exhibition entitled “Art on Deck” recently opened at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Located in a security area at the west end of Terminal 3 on Level 2, the exhibit includes works by Arizona-based artists Di’Orr Greenwood, James Johnson, Duane Koyawena, Toybox Monster, Carson Smith, and Yuko Yabuki. Arizona Theater Company Latinx Playwrights Award Rachel Lynett received the National Latinx Playwrights Award in 2021 for her work entitled Black Mexican. The award is presented by the Arizona Theater Company, which describes the play as a thought-provoking play that explores the fight against blackness in Latinidad. Lynett receives a $ 1,000 award and her play is taught at the Arizona Theater Company. Virtual Exhibition Series The Phoenix Institute for Contemporary Art (PhICA) plans to host 18 virtual exhibitions of works by Arizona-based, national and international artists in 2021 and 2022. Some of the exhibitions are intended to help contemporary artists advance their careers. Indie Film Fest New Indie Film Fest Venue Indie Film Fest 2022 has added a new location to its downtown Phoenix venues. The Saturday evening finale and the award ceremony of the festival will take place on February 12, 2022 in the courtyard in front of the castle tower of the Irish Cultural Center. Ticket sales begin on November 1st. Back to Live The Side Door platform kicks off in 2017 as a way to connect artists to alternative performance spaces, recently announced a Back to Live program that provides subsidies for people who like dance, theater, music, comedy, spoken word, Hold lectures and other performances in their homes or businesses. Prospective organizers can apply online. The Phoenix Art Museum is preparing to open a new exhibition. Lynn Trimble New Phoenix Art Museum Exhibition The Phoenix Art Museum will be the first US museum to feature the Blanton Museum of Art, charcoal drawings, photographs, videos, site-specific works, and more when Oscar Muñoz: Invisibilia opens on the 11th . There will also be a bilingual catalog. The exhibit runs through January 16, 2022. Scottsdale Historical Society, based in the Little Red Schoolhouse on the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall, expects renovations to the outdoor pedestrian mall to reopen the facility before January 2023 In the meantime, the board members are working on organizing, cataloging and archiving their inventory of historical objects and documents.
