Mesa’s own Duren brothers garnered national attention this week when Cider Corps (31 South Robson Drive, # 103 in downtown Mesa) became one The 10 best ciders in the world was named country by USA Today. The Mesa Joint was one of 20 nominees selected from more than 800 cideries in the country. A vote narrowed it down to the last 10, and Cider Corps finished fifth. “We’re a three-year-old cider amid many long-standing ciders that we follow and respect,” said Jason Duren, cider, co-owner and Sgt. USMC, retiree, said in a press release. “It means a lot to be considered one of the best.” EXPAND Get a beer and a shot. PHX Beer Co. Monday: A Vaccination Center for Arizona Brewers The Arizona Craft Brewer’s Guild has hosted a federally recognized event to help out with the craft beer community. On Monday, April 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., all guild members are welcome to the PHX Beer Co. taproom (3002 East Washington Street) for an injection of the Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccine. PHX Beer Co. will be closed to the public during the events. All members have to do is register. EXPAND You’ll want to grab this limited edition can of Arizona Diamondbacks-themed Vodka Mule. Cutwater An Arizona Diamondbacks Vodka Mule Canned CocktailLast week we told you The Still at Cutwater is coming to Chase Field this season and how it will be selling a limited edition can of Arizona Diamondbacks-themed Vodka Mule. Well, here are more details: San Diego-based Cutwater Spirits, the company behind those damn simple cocktail cans, is bringing out six co-branded vodka mule cans featuring national baseball teams – and that includes our D-backs. The D-backs Mule has 7 percent ABV and is canned with Cutwaters vodka, ginger, bitter and lime. It’s sold at The Still and everywhere Cutwater is sold (I get mine at Tops Liquors). Order eggs, give eggs. Over Easy Local Eggheads Over Easy and Hickman’s Family Farms, split through EasyOver Easy, a local breakfast chain with nine locations in Arizona, and Hickman’s Family Farms, the Buckeye-based egg farm since 1944, have teamed up to help the Mesa. Headquarters of the United Food Bank, an organization that has provided famine relief to people in Phoenix’s East Valley and eastern Arizona since 1983. How it works: If you dine at Over Easy this month, ask your server how to donate to United Food Bank. Over Easy will double your donation. Then each donation receives a dozen eggs from Hickman’s. So if you donate one dollar, United Food Bank will receive $ 2 and a dozen eggs through April 30th.
