PHOENIX, Oregon – The Phoenix Fire Relief Center is closing its doors after providing supplies to fire victims since last September. Sara Cervantez, Resource Navigator for Rogue Climate, says the center will be closed to better serve the fire victims who are now settling in makeshift shelters. She says the center has helped around 800 families and raised over $ 100,000 in relief supplies in the past 11 months. The supplies include groceries, clothing, furniture, and more. She says the closure of the center is bittersweet. “I feel like a lot of people were definitely feeling lost and lacking a sense of direction, so they came here. We built friendships, we built a long term recovery, ”she said. Cervantez says that pop-up events this fall are still getting supplies. NBC5 News reporter Mariah Mills is from Medford.
