PHOENIX – Two sisters opened a salon in the village of Phoenix this January, fell in love with the community, and are giving back in a fun way this Saturday August 7th as State Street is filled with music, food, and all sorts of vendors. “We wanted to have some fun and how it feels to be in Nashville, the live bands, the music,” said Danielle Osborne, co-owner of Looking Glass Salon, in a recent interview. “Since everyone is locked up, we just wanted to have some fun. My sister (co-owner Brianna Horton) and I put it through the mirror, but we’ve invited all of the businesses on the block, all of the state down, and we’ve also got 40-plus dealers coming. ”They had in the short time they were in Phoenix, quite astonishing successes. “We opened and expanded the salon last January, we’ve tripled,” said Osborne. You were in the middle of COVID and couldn’t have a grand opening. “But then, as things started to open up, we thought we could maybe host an outside event, and it just got a little bigger. We wanted to give something back. Phoenix was great for us. We went to a salon in Fulton and moved to Phoenix and they were so supportive of us. The community was so great that we just wanted to give something back. ”The local and well-known Elvis impersonator Tom Gilbo will be there. “Tom was great,” said Osborne. “He helped us a lot with the event because we don’t really know a lot about organizing bands, so he was really great with that. We also have other bands on the rise. So he’s a great help. ”It’s a one-day event, Saturday, August 7th, from 3pm to 9pm. “We also have a children’s section,” noted Osborne. “So when people have kids we have a bouncy castle and we do batik and face painting, but that’s more like 3pm to 5pm.” “We worked with Phoenix,” Osborne said. “(Village Manager) Jim Lynch has been of great help. Everything we asked for, they were amazing, super helpful. We’ll be using the stage on the other side where they are making music in the park and Dusky’s let us have their back deck for an acoustic performance and then there will be another one right outside the salon, but I don’t think how real a stage is . Maybe just a platform. ”There is no public cost for this event. “This is just our way of giving back,” said Osborne. “We’ll cover all the costs.” There will be food trucks, a VFW chicken grill, handicrafts, jewelry, antiques, skin care products, candles, henna, handmade goods, local goods, clothing, home-grown flowers, bouquet and vegetables, line dancing and hair braiding, according to the press release of the event. The Looking Glass Salon is located at 86 State St., Phoenix. As an Amazon partner, I earn from qualified purchases.
