PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A woman was shot dead on Sunday after an apparent drive-by shooting in Phoenix near 17th Street and McDowell Road, and McDowell Road after reports of a shootout. Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune says when officers arrived they found a woman, later identified as 23-year-old Destiny McClain, with a life-threatening gunshot wound. The Phoenix fire brought McClain to the hospital, where she later died. Police say McClain was ordering food from a food truck when she was shot. It is believed that unknown suspects were firing from a vehicle in the area as the shots fired in their direction. The investigation continues. A description of a suspect was not published.
